Ken McIntosh was born in 1949 Uig, Isle of Skye. His father was in the armed forces and they eventually settled in Bishopton in 1961 in time for him to attend Paisley Grammar School; ( for a year he was in the same debating society as Andrew Neil ).

In 1968 he went to Strathclyde University to study Architecture and Design, achieving B.Sc.; B.Arch.; ARIAS

Ken then worked in Private Practice until joining Glasgow District Council Department of Architecture in 1976. He mainly worked in Social Housing section until the demise of Regional and District local government in 1996. He was, by then, in project management and design management responsible for £40m annual budget with a wonderful group of professionals.

He has been in contact with a variety of Glasgow politicians throughout his working life; through transfers to other departments after 1996 and eventually being TUPE transferred to the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) in 2003.

He remained with the GHA providing technical and design support to management until early retirement beckoned in 2010. He became a Childrens’ Hearing Panel Member in 2000 within Glasgow City Council and served for 16 years.

Currentlly Ken is on the Board of Bridgewater HA; the Board of Erskine Golf Club and on his own local self factoring Committee looking after the common ground maintenance for West Freelands in Erskine.

He met his wife in 1969; getting married in 1975. Ken has  two grown up

children, two grandchildren and has lived in Erskine since 1978.
